Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Review - Features, Price, and Release Date

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is subtly Astonishing- Tweet This?

The very first development of the message is that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is secretly amazing. The Samsung company introduced it on Friday, 25 February 2022.

This phone is for all intents and purposes a new Galaxy Note. It has the same rectangular shape the same onboard S-Pen and some updated features to boot. With the S22 Ultra, Samsung introduces the most commonplace target market to the S-Pen. Which has long been an indicator of the Note series. By merging the two lines Samsung is implying that all power users will want to use the stylus. Whether it is to take notes, create art, or remotely control their cameras.

There is nothing new about this phone's brought an updated camera display and software features this year as well. It is amazing to review a phone that is so new but that you feel familiar with. If you have missed a series of notes you will be welcome to get used to it. But for those simply considering a new galaxy flagship is there enough improvement? Besides the S-Pen to warrant buying this phone.

Differences between the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and S21 Ultra

The differences between the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and last year's model start with their Design. This phone is by all appearances basically the Note 20 Ultra. Which makes it a departure from the Galaxy S21 Ultra rounder silhouette. The same rectangular shape, curved edges, and matte-plated metal eliminate the two mobile phones and they look almost identical.  On the left side of the bottom edge, the S-Pen slot is also in the same location.  If I didn't give you the numbers you probably wouldn't be able to tell that this phone is slightly wider shorter and thicker than the Note.

You might notice though that this phone is about 21 grams or 0.74 ounces heavier. The phone weighs more than the Pixel 6 Pro even though the iPhone 13 Pro max still weighs 240 grams. Apart from its colorful two-tone design and camera bar, Google's premium flagship already reminded us of the note 20 Ultra. Instead of a rectangular module in the upper left corner of the housing, more sensors. The S22 Ultra's cameras are neatly laid out in two columns on the back with no boundaries containing them.

I prefer this neater less cluttered look to the Note 20 and S21 Ultra's versions. I also appreciated its gorilla glass vicious plus covering. It was a bit disappointing to receive a black unit for review instead of one of the three color choices.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Display 6.8 inches super AMOLED Panel

If I used to be buying myself I'd choose either the green or burgundy color I saw at Samsung's hands-on event. As is often the case with Samsung machines the S22 Ultra screen shines with its 6.8 inches super AMOLED panel. Which is colorful and bright and easy to read even under direct sunlight due to its 1750 nits high brightness like the front flags of this phone and regenerate at 120-hertz making long scrolls and lists look smooth.

To ensure that users can see what's on their phones without Samsung's lighting conditions. This year have introduced what they call a vision booster. Samsung said the effect is more noticeable in sunlight but I still didn't notice a significant difference. As the sun shone on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra screen when I made my way to the office.

Phone Speaker Test

I usually don’t play music on my phone but one night when my wi-fi came out and I couldn’t use my speakers I had to turn on streaming Spotify on S22 Ultra and it provided decent audio quality. It was loud enough to bring the background sound I was looking for even though songs like heartbreaker by wabi-sabi sounded empty and missing the bass. It was ideal for handling medium-heavy sounds as game sound features such as dots.

However, another aspect of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra that's more than a little reminiscent of the notes is the onboardS-Pen. There's no significant difference between the S-Pens on the S22 Ultra and the Note 20 ultra save for a latency improvement this year.

 Nifty handwriting recognition software

This means you will be getting a rather better version of an equivalent fluid responsive writing experience as before alongside Samsung's nifty handwriting recognition software in its notes app. If you use Samsung's keyboard instead of switching to G-board. You'll also be able to use the S-Pen to scroll text into search fields and URL boxes throughout the system.

Samsung also offers a list of suggested tools when removing the S-Pen from its space. So you can quickly do things like creating a note or selecting a part of your screen. To remove the screenshot and draw on it quickly. I even wrote this part of the review by scribbling the words onto this phone's screen with the S-Pen. I use Samsung's notes app to transform my handwriting into phrases.

There is not much I can say about the S-Pen right now. The Samsung stylus is capable of the dark thing of those who want to do the best works of art. But as a quick pencil to write a quick list or to sign documents flying or as a large screen case the S-Pen is more than enough. In fact, many of the more common functions such as working as a remote control for your camera or music playback are powerful and completely useful.

The only problem is that you are the kind of person who can pull out a stylus to get in touch with your phone instead of just using your hands. Regardless, the S-Pen is a great assistant to have however for the most part it avoids your direction.

Its Camera gives realistic images

This phone shares the same camera setup as the S21 ultra with a 108-megapixel main sensor. A 12-megapixel ultra-wide option and a pair of 10-megapixel telephoto lenses. New to this year are features such as auto-adjusting and enhanced video and video stabilization stereo map depth. For more accurate image blurring and something, Samsung calls adaptive pixel.

These stitches together high res images from the 108-megapixel sensor. And a photo was taken with Nona binning for bigger pixels. Capture more light supposedly resulting in brighter pictures that retain crisp detail. In reality, the adaptive pixel is tricky to figure out and its results might not be worth the effort.

First, you have to set this phone to shoot at the highest resolution. And then when the system detects your shooting in low light it performs the stitching in the background. There is no way you can be sure that the dynamic pixel is working. There are no user-facing indicators it shot a few photos of the nightscape with this phone. Both at the default 12-megapixel setting and at 108 megapixels and they were mostly indistinguishable from each other.

When I zoomed in to see more details buildings looked equally muddy. Mostly due to flares from the various lights in the image. When you take out some pictures in low light with the camera set to the default resolution of 108 megapixels. Honestly, the effects were incredibly fine the high-resolution shots were sometimes better exposed but not always. And any improvement in clarity was so fine.

Samsung's photos were holding their own against those from the iPhone 13 Pro and Pixel 6 Pro. Google continues to give excellent pictures in low light thanks to its night sight mode. But Apple and Samsung's bidings are closing the gap. In daylight, the S7 ultra produces slightly more saturated photos than the Pixel 6 pro. Which generally causes a more neutral tone.

S22 Ultra's Selfies give more realistic results

Upfront this phone's 40-megapixel camera is also similar to the S21 Ultra. Samsung says it improved its stereo depth system for more precise effects in portrait mode. Compared to selfies, with the iPhone 13 Pro and Pixel 6, Pro Samsung's flagship was just as accurate at distinguishing from background blurring out exactly the same areas as the other two did. Previous Samsung cameras offered rather artificial and uncomfortable-looking portraits. But this time around this phone produces more realistic results.

Video Recording

This phone's other update is around video recording. Especially, Samsung introduced an auto framing feature that will detect faces in view and keep focused on up to 10 subjects in one scene. You can also choose the people you want to focus and then the system will follow them accordingly. This phone is able to keep our video producer.

However, I didn't notice there was a slight distortion as he walked to the far edges of the viewfinder. And the system still kept him centered in the frame. It looked slightly bent out of shape but it was still. There are plenty of other features Samsung carried over from its previous flagship.

If you're one individual who partook in the multiple times' space zoom include from before. You can in any case utilize this phone to get very up near-distant items. Although I generally found this feature slightly weird in some cases the results were actually clear enough to read. For the most part, although I found the space zoom to be very useful. In up to 30 times the zoom anything more than that was usually muddy and unusable.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Duo video calling app

Thanks to a partnership with google the S22 series gets a custom version of the Duo video calling app. That only enables new screen sharing and auto framing features.

Samsung and google's live transmitting segment also doesn't support streaming apps like NetFlix or Hulu. Meaning you won't be able to watch shows together with your friends unless they're on youtube. Samsung also added the auto framing feature. It is introduced in this camera app to the duo. So you can make sure your face is centered while you're on your call. When you enable this feature the app automatically switched to a wider angle shot. Via the front camera zooming in to keep you in view as you moved around.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Useful Feature

This phone has one of its features very useful. If you want to leave your phone supported up somewhere while you're talking. But it does nothing really if you're just gonna hold up your phone and remain fixed. That is how I take most of my video calls this feature is more useful. on smart displays. Since you can't move them around as easily as phones. Samsung also offers a partnership view feature. That allows you to use your phone's handset as a second screen for a Tab S8.

If you're one individual who partook in the multiple times' space zoom include from before. You can in any case utilize this phone to get very up near-distant items. We do not have a Tab S8 yet so I could not check this feature.

Unfortunately, as with older mobile devices you can also quickly share content with other nearby Samsung Galaxy devices. And use links windows to connect your phone to your laptop. One UI 4.0 additionally offers new shading ranges and subjects that penetrate the whole framework material on android 12. Which allows you to revive your point of interaction whenever you get exhausted. The S22 series are among those principal devices to utilize Qualcomm's new snapdragon 8 gen 1 processors.

By and large, you get the quick presentation expected of these top-notch processors. This phone didn't start to heat when I was hopping between perusing Reddit and playing a "Spot the Difference" game. While involving it as a focal point for my different gadgets. I am really surprised that I have never seen a handset work fairly in that time with it.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra's battery life

Samsung deserves credit for its advanced hot system here. I was also slightly taken aback to see the Galaxy S22 Ultra's battery life drop from 75%. When I took it out of its box at noon to just 20% by the evening. I was shocked that the power used during the setup of a video battery test. Galaxy S22 Ultra's result of 17 hours and 16 minutes beat the Pixel 6 Pro by 3 minutes.

While writing this review I have been writing Note 22 Ultra. I had to correct my mistake at least twenty times. Those of us who are fans of the note will find this a happy reunion. The fundamental overhauls for those approaching a Note 20 Ultra will be in the cameras and programming and taking into account. That telephone is around two years of age at this point you'll presumably be appreciative only for the refreshed specs.

So I'm gonna end it with this type of big question with the review, at the end of the review, you're like, "Well, should I buy it? Is it worth it? Is it worth the money?" Since this is an expensive phone, its price is $1,200, which is a big question.

So basically, I think their mission was accomplished. The fact that they've combined the Note stuff with this phone makes it easier to separate it from the regular S22. It makes for an obviously different phone across the board.

Final Notes

So if you just want a standard, really good flagship phone, big screen, nice battery, nice cameras. All that stuff, the S22 Plus is a great phone, and it's $200 less at the starting price. But if you want some specific extra things, like the super high-resolution display or the S Pen or some of those camera tweaks. Then it gives you a reason to upgrade, and it does deliver on those extra things.

Now, that being said, I am sticking with the Galaxy 21 Ultra as my main daily driver phone. For those who already own this phone, there is no need to upgrade. But it's just basically the same phone as far as software, battery, cameras are almost the same, performance is the same. My preference is for the vibration motor to be able to notify me more frequently with this design. However, overall, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is good enough and it delivers.
